8. In opening up the floor on the subject of assessors the response from K.Jones was that assessors should NOT make themselves known to referees who are being assessed. A demonstration of positioning for corners and penalties was given by G.Parry and S.Catterall.

In a recent game a player of ethnic origin was cautioned by a a referee for his 5th infringement of the laws. The player accused the referee of being racist and reported him to the authorities as such. The referee was backed by at least 2 players of the team concerned. Outcome to be resolved.

A letter was received regarding the recent Everton goal against Leicester when the kick was not taken from the place where the incident occurred. Should the goal have been allowed. The consensus was that according to the laws the kick should be retaken but as it was Everton, the goal should stand.

Due to the recent poor weather conditions the opinion was that referees should err on the side of caution and not play games if in doubt of the surface.
